Belly dance

I just noticed my big tummy moving in Jalebi Direction while playing this song. Now I can understand why the audience asked me to play the same song one more time. They really liked the belly dance , more than my playing.......
Anyway it is nice to see the rhythmic movement of Big Belly....enjoy and try the same style, People will love it !!!!!

Tapan rocks

Harmonica Club of Gujarat founder secretary Tapan Bhatt is a rock star. A plastic engineer by education, an interior designer by profession, a pioneer of break-dance who introduced this dance form to Gujarat, a hypnotist who has cracked many a complex crimes for the police, an Information Communication Technology entrepreneur, an ornithologist and breeder of exotic species of reptiles, Tapan is a passionate music lover.

Tapan sprang a surprise during the Navratri festival in my campus, Akbhar Nagar, last night by displaying his skill as an accomplished drummer. Akhbar Nagar, celebrating its Silver Jubilee, had called popular band, Heaven Music led by famous drummer Sunil Patel. The band was in full swing and the residents of the colony, men, women and children, in their traditional attire were swaying to the Gujarati garba songs when Tapan appeared on the stage and requested Sunil to hand over the drum sticks to him.

And, Tapan rocked.

Tribute to Mother

Tapan Bhatt, founder of the Harmonica Club, went through a trying times after his mother suffered a heart attack. She was kept in the intensive care unit of a hospital for more than a week before she underwent a bypass surgery.

A practitioner of hypno-therapy, Tapan diverted his attention to playing music and when among the youngest members of the Harmonica Club, Devansh Shah told him about the song 'Meri Maa' from the film 'Taare Zameen Par', Tapan started practicing the song at home.

On February 14, 2010, the Valentine Day, Tapan attended the Sunday Morning session of the Club at Parimal Garden. I had heard from Devansh and others about Tapan playing this very melodious and sentimental song. So, I persuaded him to play the song for the HCG blog. I took him to a corner of the park besides the lake and made him sit under a tree. He played on the harmonica along with the original song in the background.

Birthday Boy: Yogesh Bhatt

Principal Judge Industrial Courts, Gujarat, Yogesh Bhatt celebrated his 59th birthday in Baroda by playing 'Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki, Na Jaane Tum Kab Aoge' to a thunderous applause from the music afficianados. Members of the Harmonica Club of Gujarat wished him a long musical life at their Sunday gathering at the Satyam Mall. There was pastry, flower and music. Here are some photographs:

Thank you Nachiketabhai for allowing me to manage the blog jointly. This is just a beginning to make the blog a community property. I hope gradually more members will start posting on this blog.

Tapan Bhatt: A Multi-faceted Man

We were invited to Tapan Bhatt's home for our weekly practice session. With rains finally arriving in Ahmedabad, a round of hot dalwada was what we were greeted and treated with by Tapan and his wife. As we get to interact more and more with the members of the Harmonica Club, we come to know of the various aspects of a member's personality. This time, we got a chance to have a glimpse of Tapan's varied interests - music, computer software, yoga, past life regression, hypnotism, interior design, post construction work, photography, spiritualism...
Tapan, a product of Puttaparthy, provides his services to the police in cracking crime. This he does by hypnotizing the suspects and criminals to make them confess to their crime. He also uses his hypnotizing powers to help mentally challenged children in their studies. It was his desire to perform at the annual function of his alma mater that Tapan picked up harmonica six months ago. My, what a fast learner he is. His only problem is that he has not listened to Hindi film songs.

Live on Radio Mirchi

Five members of the Harmonica Club of Gujarat were on a live talk show on the Radio Mirchi today, June 16 2008. The talk show began at 8 in the morning and continued till 11.

The most popular Radio Jockey, Dhvanit hosted the show. An amazing guy, handling at least three tasks single-handedly without losing his sense of humour.

All of us - Nachiketa Desai, Tapan Bhatt, Rohini Jhala, Paresh Bhatia and Manohar Vaidya - talked and played mouth organ.

Radio Mirchi studio was flooded with phone calls from listeners. We hope to get many more new members to the harmonica club when we meet next coming Sunday.

We will be posting the recording of the talk show on the blog as soon as we get the CD from Radio Mirchi.

Tapan Bhatt

One of the founder members of the club. Thought of the harmonica for the first time in his life while on his business tour and picked up one on 5^th January 2008.

In a very short duration, has picked up enough to perform before the public (to be appreciated)! Has a collection of a number of harmonicas and the shopping spree has not stopped!

Plays, apart from Hindi film songs, Gujarati songs as well. Works as a post construction consultant. A very spiritual human being, works a lot for social causes.

He is the coordinator of the Harmonica Club of Gujarat.
