Paresh Bhatia has been training scores of school children in harmonica playing. Some of his disciples like Aditya Chalishazar and Devansh Shah have turned out excellent players, drawing applaud from audience at public performance. Today, as part of Christmas celebrations, Paresh Bhatia and Aditya played this song by the side of the Parimal Garden lake.

Guru-shishya parampara

When three years ago the Harmonica Club of Gujarat was formed, there were only six 'middle-aged' men who got together with the mission to popularize this small musical instrument which was fast becoming extinct because of the advent of electronic keyboard.

Today the HCG has over 30 members, half a dozen of them school children in the age group of 10-15 years. The man who deserves credit for attracting the generation next is Paresh Bhatia, who turned 50 last Septmber 11. Bhatia had not only introduced harmonica in his music class in a leading public school of Ahmedabad, but also gave personal tuition to anyone and everyone who wished to learn how to play this instrument.

It is Bhatia Sir's efforts which have given the music world child prodigies like Devansh, Aditya, Mihir and Pratham who have not just learned the 'Sa, Re, Ga, Ma' but can today play popular tunes from olden days, decades before they were born.

The result of this Guru-Shishya parampara was witnessed at a public performance of the Harmonica Club of Gujarat at Ahmedabad's premier Rajpath Club on September 10, 2011 where the kids outshone the veterans in presenting scintillating and romantic numbers.

Normally in Parimal, I take the responsibility of causing headache to my friends by trying to bend a few notes :-).
But this time both my and our guru Pareshbhai and our dear Devansh did a good job on chromatic harmonica and demonstrated bending skills .

Both the coming programmes of 25th and 27th are arranged by him. On 25th the club is performing for a Bengali group and on 27th in Gandhinagar (the capital of Gujarat) , for the IAS officers meet.
Next month we will be performing in a very famous engineering college expacting the audiance of approx 1500 students + staff.

Jo Shaheed Huye Hain Unki Jara Yaad Karo Qurbani

For the Independence Day, Devansh Shah played this immensely popular patriotic song which had made India's first Prime Minister Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru cry while listening to Lata Mangeshkar singing it. The song was composed by C Ramachandra and the lyrics were by Pradeep.

Devansh has been learning harmonica from Paresh Bhatia, who teaches music to school children in Ahmedabad. For this Independence Day special, Paresh Bhatia accompanied Devansh on bongos.

15th song : Aaj kal tere mere pyar ke charche

Paresh Bhatia also known as Yuvaraj sinh of Harmonica Club of Gujarat, can hit sixers with any harmonica. He is playing the SWAN 12 hole professional harmonica. Recently he imported a few harmonicas of the same make for the beginners.

4th song Uthe sab ke kadam

More and more young boys are joining the club. Thanks to Paresh Bhatia for training them for The Kankaria Carnival in a very short time.

Zindagi Khwab hai : Kumarpal Shah

Treasurer of the club Kumarpal Shah, also plays Key Board and Tabla. He plays some very famous hindi numbers on Harmonica. He is also in the advisory board of energy saving.
In this song we experimented with rythm on harmonica. Paresh Bhatia did it beautifully. As usual Manohar Vaidya was up to the mark....

Aaj kal tere mere pyar ke charche : Birth Day Boy, Devansh

Harmonica club was once again invited for a charity show in the Tagore Hall by 'Happening'. The programme started with a surprise, a song on mouth organ.It was a tribute to late Rafi Saab, Paresh Bhatia and Devansh played 'aaj kal tere mere pyar ke charche har jabaan par'. 31st August is Devansh's Birthday and all of us wish him Many Happy Returns of the Day. Devansh's parents have given him Lary Adler professional 16 as a gift. I would like to introduce Paresh Bhatia to all of you by mentioning that he can write the notations in the exact scale while the song is being played even for the first time. His sense of musical notations is just amazing. With his help,very shortly we are going to publish notations of different hindi songs on this blog, for which we will require your demands. So pl start giving your demands. Let us see who is the first to ask.

A schoolboy, in his 10^th Standard, Manthan has been training under Paresh Bhatia for last three years. He also plays the keyboard.
