Apoorva Bhatt weaves music

The Harmonica Club of Gujarat has some gems without who this tiny musical instrument would not have gained popularity among the generation next. One such gem is textiles engineer from Baroda, Apoorva Bhatt. He has taught scores of young people the art and craft of playing mouth organ. A perfectionist, Apoorva rehearses several times over before his public performance. However, his friends and fans have captured on video several of his renditions off guard. Here are some samples.

1. Jyoti Kalash Chhalake

2. Dil Ek Mandir Hai

3. Dil Ki Girah Khol Do

Master of detailing: Apoorva Bhatt

Textiles engineer Apoorva Bhatt has been playing harmonica since he was a toddler. "I learned mouth organ in my cradle," he says. And, it shows. He has been playing the instrument with perfection. Apoorva Bhatt has also been training young harmonica players of Baroda to popularize the instrument among the young generation. We present here a song he played at the Rajpath Club, Ahmedabad recently.

Yogesh Tamta

Yogesh has been in touch with Apoorva Bhatt since quite a long time. During his visit to Ahmedabad, he visited the Harmonica Corner in Parimal Garden and played a few songs on his CX12.
He accompanied us to studio where Apoorva Bhatt was supposed to record his songs.
Yogeshji, welcome to HCG....
'sar mera chakaraye'

Apoorva Bhatt

First round of recording is coming to an end. We have recorded almost 20 songs. We will start the second round of recording very soon.
Apoorva Bhatt gave us a surprise on last Sunday by bringing Yogesh Tamta from Lucknow. Yogesh plays harmonica since his childhood. He has been in touch with Apoorva Bhatt for quite a long time, and showed his interest of meeting the members of HCG. Yogesh is basically an R & D man and has designed harmonicas with his knowledge in meteorology. He showed us his diatonic harmonica, which he had tuned to play many songs with chromatic notes. He has also prepared the documentations as to how the reeds made from different materials sound differently from each other.
He became the member of HCG there and then only............
Immediately after the Harmonica Satsang in Parimal we went to the recording studio, where Apoorva Bhatt recorded two lovely songs.

Ajeeb Dastaa Hai Ye: Dc Ab Rp Ak

I still remember their first visit to Destination 5 in Ahmedabad. Paresh Bhatia had asked me to attend the programme on his behalf, as he had to go to Dubai.
I used to play 'Ham Honge Kamyab' song with many mistakes. But soon after the programme I managed to meet Apoorva Bhatt and he immediately invited me to Vadodara promising that he would surely teach me some techniques. And Harmonica got a special place in my life.
Strangers became friends!!!!
There is a long story in between this but some other time .......

E Malik Tere Bande Hum: Pankhar NI Haash

Jai Maharaj...
When they started playing the song, everyone present in the hall was mesmerized. Though there was a limitation of sound system, this song created the hypnotic effect in the hall and the musical journey started......
One very important fact I would like to mention here is that, Our Amjadbhai Pathan was having Roja, and all Muslim brothers do not eat, drink or put anything in mouth before certain time, but as he is always committed to the HCG and has responsible role to play in the programme, kept all the rules aside and played for this noble cause. Special thanks to him from all of us.
The Hall was packed with 200 most disciplined, knowledgeable senior citizens.

After the programme we got a chance to see Shri Ram Dasji Maharaj in the Santram Mandir.

Truly it was a wonderful and memorable experience.

Two more programmes are coming up on 25th and 27th. Invitations to all.......
Apoorva Bhatt, Dilipsinh Chavan, Rupesh Parmar and Amjad Khan Pathan

Old is Gold

Apoorva Bhatt was not even born when blockbuster black and white bollywood film 'Goonj Uthi Shehnai' was released in 1959. Starring Rajendra Kumar and Amita, the film became a hit primarily because of its lilting songs.

The music director was Vasant Desai, who used the Indian classical musical instrument Shehnai so successfully that the background scores became tear jerkers. The king of playback singing, Mohammed Rafi's mellifluous voice made the film's songs immortal.

We first present here the haunting song - 'Keh do koyi na kare yahan pyaar' - in Rafi Sahab's voice. We will then present the same song's rendition on mouth organ by Apoorva Bhatt.

And, now Apoorva Bhatt on harmonica playing the song 50 years after the release of the film:

8th song : Gadi Bula rahi hai

Apoorva Bhatt and Rupesh Parmar.
Both of them play this song very well with whisteling and the effect of steam engine.

This song requires a lot of stemina with rythemic tonguing.

Maine tere liye : Dashman

Dash, as i mentioned once, is a very soft spoken person plays harmonica smoothly. The committment is seen in his playing. He really gets lost while playing, but very possesive about his harmonica, the other day when I was in his studio, got a chance to play his 280 of Hohner. On the way back , Amjadbhai asked me with a surprise that how Dash had allowed me to play his harmonica, The answer was very simple 'both of us could not resist'. that's all.....
Apoorva Bhatt played the music in this song.

Jeena Yaha : Apoorva Bhatt

Apoorva Bhatt played the famous violin pieces of this song on harmonica. He has been trying this for a very long time, though not satisfied fully with his own performance!! For us it was a musical treat with a lesson.
He always tells me ' Try to play better than last time '. The only way to improve....
'To blow a mouth organ and to Play a mouth organ' both are different activities... Rightly said by Piyush Pandya.

Jaane Kahan Gaye Voh Din

I have been feeling very depressed past one week for not being able to play mouth organ because of some health problem. My doctor has advised me to go easy till I recover fully.

Ever since I had this problem, friends from all over Gujarat have been calling me up to inquire about my health. Those in Ahmedabad had come to the hospital and at home to meet me. Today, I was blessed by the visit of Apoorva Bhatt and Dilipsinh Chavan who drove down from Baroda on a motor cycle just to meet me.

I grabbed the opportunity to make them play for me while I captured it on video. So, here is a special gift to me from Apoorvabhai and Chavan Saab:
